Week 4: Mutual Growth – Lifting Each Other Up
TIP
Shift your mindset from “How am I doing?” to “Who am I lifting?”
SCRIPTURE
“Let us consider how we can spur one another on toward love and good deeds.” — Hebrews 10:24
QUOTE
“Spiritual friendship isn’t just about support—it’s about the power of team, mutual sharpening and spreading spiritual friendship to other guys.” – Jeff Kemp
QUESTION
Who are you lifting—and who is lifting you—in your life and your walk with God?
PARABLE
Three men committed to a weekly check-in time together. Within months, they moved from casual encouragement to processing all the important parts of their lives. As their disclosure deepened, so did their prayer for each other. They spurred and called each other higher. Years later, they’re still lifting each other—and now mentoring younger men to build the same huddling friendship. They’ve built a legacy of transformation, not just connection.
EXAMINE SELF
Am I merely consuming friendship, or contributing to someone else’s growth?
CONFESSION
I’ve been a consumer of friendship more than a contributor.
REPENTANCE
Jesus, You laid down Your life for Your friends. Help me lay down my ego to be real and lay down convenience to lift others toward You.
DISCUSS WITH A FRIEND
What kind of impact do we want our friendships to have over the next 5 years?
ACTION STEP
This week tell a friend one way you’d like to grow. Ask him: “What’s one area I can help you grow in this month?” Commit to support him in ways he suggests.
COMMITMENT
I will invest intentionally in a friend’s growth—not just my own.
HABIT
Schedule a weekly hangout with 2 friends. We call it “huddling”. Focus on mutual encouragement, growth, and God’s guidance.
COACHING
You don’t “lead” in friendship. You don’t have to be “ready”. You just have to initiate and show up with humility, honesty and intentional sharing.
PRAYER
Father God, show me who to walk with and how to multiply Your love through friendship. Make me a man who grows and helps other guys grow.
PRAYER REQUEST
Feel free to tell us how we can pray for you and your friendships.
Prayer Request
a way to let the Jeff Kemp know how to pray for you
