Week 19:Keep Showing Up
QUESTION
Do you give up when connection with a friend doesn’t click right away?
STORY
Ben tried to get several guys to start huddling, but only one guy showed up. He almost quit after a month. But he felt God say, “Keep showing up and enjoy the guy who does show up”. Three months later, that guy brought another, and now they’re a tight core of friends. Turns out a small band of brothers beats a big group of dudes. A small core gives you time each week to talk about each guy’s life.
EXAMINE SELF
Am I impatient, placing too much pressure on quick results—instead of persevering and being faithful to one or two friends?
SCRIPTURE
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” — Galatians 6:9
QUOTE
Friendship grows as we show up again and again.
TIP
If it feels slow, that’s okay. Deep roots take time and honesty.
PRAY, CONFESS & REPENT
Lord, I confess my discouragement when efforts don’t bear fruit right away. Strengthen me to persevere in connection and friendship.
COACHING
Don’t judge your impact by immediate results or feedback. Just keep showing up and opening up.
ACTION STEP
Reach out again this week to someone who may not have responded much previously.
COMMITMENT
I will stay faithful in initiating connection and sharing even when it feels slow.
HABIT
End your week with a check-in: “Who have I reached out to—and who do I need to follow up with?”
TALK & PRAY WITH FRIENDS
Share a time when someone’s consistency with you made a difference in your life.
